 | | From Where Do Rivers Originate | | by Swapna P, Aug 12, 2008 | | At the time when the earth was cooling and the mountains and seas were being formed, there used to be heavy rains. The rainwater flowed down the slopes of the hills and mountains and finally found their way to the open seas. The continuous flowing of the rain down these slopes made a sort of rut or track and these deepened with time. These then formed streams and brooks. With the passage of time they grew in size into huge rivers. | | Comments(0) Liked It: 0 |

 | | When and How Were the Oceans Formed | | by Swapna P, Aug 12, 2008 | | The surface of the earth, as we know now, is covered with three fourths of water. This comprises of the oceans, seas, rivers and lakes. We really do not know how these water bodies were formed. The scientists have propounded the theory that as the earth cooled it was enveloped by thick clouds. These clouds rained down water on the earth. | | Comments(0) Liked It: 0 |
