Rocky Shore Field Report

The first objective of the excursion to the Caloundra rocky shore was to observe and record organisms found in the rock platform area, and identify the adaptations of each species which enhance its survival. Secondly, it was to record physical factors which affect life in the area. Lastly, it was to study the vertical zonation at the rock platform.

Pot-bellied Seahorses

The Pot-bellied Seahorse inhabits harbors and sheltered coastal bays. They can also be found amongst algae, sea grasses and around rocky reefs in fairly shallow water. In deeper water they typically attach to sponges.
