Individuals of the same species need the same resources and therefore can negatively affect each other through competition if those resources are in short supply. The more individuals there are in a given area, the more rapidly the resources will be used up, and competition can result. Results conclude that the effects of competition were more severe in pots with a higher number of plants, and biomass per plant was much greater in pots with less competition.
