The Importance of Grass

The grass family is considered the most successful of flowering plants with about 9000 species. The main reason for their survival is that they grow quickly and soon produce seed. Their shape and structure require very little space and if trampled upon generally regain their upright position. They even continue growing after being heavily grazed on by animals.

Its all around us, provides a place of play. The rich green color offers tranquility and sanity. It only smells when we cut it, and it feeds millions of herbivore's everyday. A short offering of words for one of the riches sources of energy on planet earth.

Is Bamboo the Tallest Grass?

It is true that the bamboo is the tallest grass. It grows to a height of about 35 meters and has a thickness of about 30 cm. bamboos grow at a great spread. They can grow about 40 cm, in a day. One bamboo was known to have grown 90 cm, in just one day.
