For the American Cancer Society

It has been about four years, and I am still making 3d character art. I have made websites and blogs, and even made cards, shoes, posters, and shirts with my characters at Zazzle. At Zazzle, my fan club is starting to grow which has taken me by surprise. That makes me want to do something more with my characters. So I decided to make an I Can Page at ACS website. When you go to the page, look on the right hand side and you will see one of my characters. Click on my fund photo page to see more.

When I think of cancer, I think of walk-a-thons. I thought about my character, Stilt Walker and some shoes that I have designed. The “Goo” part of the name was taken from Google being a logo Google fan creating logos. I called them Goo-Roars. Then I made all of the ideas combined and came up with my own name for a walk-a-thon titled “Goo-Roar Walk-A-Thon”. I wanted to create a strong image for people that are fighting cancer. So, I used a tiger to blend with Stilt Walker and the Goo-Roar shoe.

I have another character name Little Benny that I should have thought of first for a walk-a-thon. He was created into an animation titled “Benny’s Walk”. Benny walks along with Jesus. His walk-a-thon is a prayer walk-a-thon to encourage people to walk and talk with Jesus fighting cancer. At Zazzle, I decide to create Little Benny Keds Shoes. The picture of the shoe is on my I Can Page.

At Zazzle, I am hoping that people will buy some of my work that is on the I Can Page. It is all for the ACS. A portion of the money will go to the American Cancer Society.

Calling All Heroes: Eight Beautiful Ways to Save a Life

You are just one-click away from becoming someone's hero and saving a life. These lifesaving methods will not cost you a dime, just a little of your time. Be a hero!

Have you ever wanted to be a hero, but just did not know where to start? Not everyone is fortunate to have enough money to open their checkbooks to help other people that are in need, but what if you didn't have to? What if, you only need to visit a site and click one link to save a life, would you do it?

In a mission to save as many lives around the world as possible, I have compiled a list of charitable websites that donate 100% of the advertising revenue earned from the sites to their specific causes. Visitors visit the websites and every time that they click on a sponsor's link, and then the advertiser makes a donation to the charity. The site visitor does not need to open their wallets to make a donation, because the sponsors already have.

Remember, every site you visit and with each click that you make another life is being saved. Be a hero!

The Hunger Site

Children are dying from starvation each and every day around the world. The majority of these children are living in some of the most impoverished nations and that go to bed every night with nothing to eat. This doesn't need to be this way and we can help through The Hunger Site, where with one-click a supportive sponsor will make a donation to help buy and deliver food to feed the poorest amongst us throughout the world.

HungryChildren.org

No child should ever go to bed hungry, especially since the world is full with wealthy nations that enjoy a life of plenty. Can you possibly imagine what it must feel like with an aching, empty swollen belly that hasn't even one cup full of food in days, weeks or months? It is a nightmare to even ponder, so stop by HungryChildren.com and give a click, so that their sponsor will make a donation that can help provide proper nourishment to the children who needed our help yesterday.

In many impoverished nations throughout the world, there are children suffering from preventable diseases, but just cannot afford to buy the medications that are needed to treat the illnesses. The Rainforests around the world are the life's blood for the planet's health, because most of the clean air that is produced is a direct result from the nature filtration that the trees and plant life living in these forests provide the Earth. Everyday, the world is losing hundreds of acres of old growth forest, because of commercial logging operations, commercial developments and controlled burning. This is rainforest that the planet will never get back or be able to replace from planting a few new trees. However, we can help save our world's rainforest by showing our support and clicking our way to purchasing rainforest, so it can be protected from commercialization and deforesting.

Time to Give Back: Donate Money Online

Yesterday as I sat all bottled up with anger and frustration in our air-conditioned car because my parents wouldn't buy me a new mobile, I heard a slight knock on the car window. Looking up, I saw a face shriveled with the heat of the burning city, overwhelmed with sweat and pleading for a bit of money. It was a boy, around ten years of age, pleading for money. It was in a moment of sheer shame that I reflected on how lucky I was to even get a three time meal, whereas I could have been born as the illiterate son of a beggar, knowing the only road open to me was pleading for money.

Beggars are a very common sight in even the most modern cities in Pakistan. They're littered everywhere - long corners, near every traffic light and on the doorstep of every mall here. There are entire family legacies of beggars here, where children are forced to earn a meager income for their parents everyday. These are some of the situations which make me feel guilty to the core of my being. Knowing that while I'm pigging down more ice cream there's that man on the corner with not even bread to feed on.

Whenever I raise something like this, the common answer is: there's nothing we can do, it's not our fault! Well, then whose is it? The peoples'? Fine maybe one or two men decided to bunk school and never became anything, but what about the children? They don't choose to be born into a beggar's lap and as the upper-class of the society; it's our responsibility to help them. Donate to charities, volunteer in helping these people, but just don't sit around like a couch potato eating junk-food and watching TV.

There are many ways to donate money to charities online. You can do it by playing games online, clicking on click-to-donate sites, buying online stuff from donation sites.

FreeRice

Test your vocabulary in multiple choice questions and with every correct answer, donate rice to feed the poor. Every correct answer gives 20 grains to the poor. Money generated by advertisements shown on the bottom of the page goes to the UN food program to help eliminate poverty.

TheHungerSite

Click on advertisements to donate money! It's simple and easy to use. It's a site which you can pay two minutes of your time and help to donate to a cause.

HungryChildren

With a number of ways to help children, you can click "help a child", send packages and monetary donation is very much appreciated.

Okruszek

Click on the bread to feed the poor and the needy.

FreePoverty

Water is one of the prime necessities to living. Help donate ten cups of water for every correct answer you give. Try locating the places on the map - helpful and educational.

FreeFlour

Donate spoons of flour to needy people by testing your knowledge.

See, we don't have to billionaires to donate money and help the poor. We can just have an average brain, ten minutes per day and the will to feel the burden of others on our shoulders. There are people in my city missing limbs. I've got all, and I'm going to use them - it's time you do the same.

Five Ways to Give Back and Leave the World a Better Place

Start a Non-Profit Organization

During your lifetime, you'll find causes and issues that speak to your heart. If there isn't anyone else working on the issue that you care about most, start a non-profit organization to work toward solving the problem. During your lifetime, you can get the organization running and work to have it funded indefinitely by joining with other people who are also connected to the cause.

Donate Your Estate to a Charity

If you are currently involved with a charitable organization, considering leaving your entire estate to that organization. Your money can help the group stay afloat and keep working on its mission. Make sure you work with an estate attorney to draw up the papers that will make the donation legal.

Volunteer in the Life of a Child

Some children, sad to say, don't have quality adults as a part of their lives. You can be a stable force in the life of a child by volunteering with groups like Big Brothers and Big Sisters, or similar groups. You can sign up to be a mentor in your school district, or you can volunteer to work with children at your church.

Invent Something that Saves Energy or Promotes a "Green" Environment

One way to leave a lasting mark on this world is to invest something that will benefit people and the environment. If you can invent something that can help achieve this goal, you will be remembered far beyond your time on earth.

Fund a College Scholarship

You can ensure the future of humankind by funding a scholarship for a deserving college student. Many universities will allow you to tailor the requirements for receiving money to your specific interests. You can designate the money for a student from your state, or who is studying an interest area that you share. Whatever you fund, giving money toward educations helps the student, the community and the entire country.

Before you die, you can visit foreign countries, see the most amazing sights on earth or bungee jump in New Zealand. You can also leave a lasting mark on the planet by using your life and money and skills to make the world a better place. Leaving a legacy means you'll be remembered long after your death.

You Can Donate to Charity Even If You’re Not a Millionaire

Even if you don't have room in your budget for charitable giving, you can still make a difference by utilizing Internet "click to give" campaigns. The following are several Web sites that are ongoing charities that have a group of advertisers who fund the campaigns. Every time you visit and click the donate button, a sponsor donates a set amount of money. Individual clicks aren't worth very much, but these clicks do add up when lots of people visit and tell their friends.

Free Rice

Play the free rice game and help feed the hungry. It's not only a fun game, it will help you build your vocabulary. For every word you get correct in the multiple choice game, the free rice sponsors will donate 20 grains of rice. The beauty of the free rice game is that you can play it for hours and not get bored. Share this link with anyone you know studying for the SAT or the GRE standardized tests and their vocabulary scores will benefit. You can even register settings so that you get really hard or easier words. The site even keeps updating how many grains of rice you've been responsible for donating.

The Brest Cancer Site

A daily click at The Breast Cancer Site will help raise money from sponsors to fund mammograms for women who cannot afford to pay for the expensive test. Since many people's lives are touched by breast cancer, it's a wonderful way to help others and hopefully help someone discover their cancer early enough for effective treatment. While you're at this site, look at the tab bar for a few other sites you can help with a click.

Charity Click Donation

Here is a site where you can visit one time and also find several organizations you can click and give to such as the environment, medical research, and hunger and poverty. This site registers bulk click so your one click hits several sites all at once.

Care2

Care2 maintains a long list of ‘click to give' sites all on one page to make finding many of these sites faster for clickers. You can visit daily and click away to help everything from seals, to rain forests, to hungry children and literacy.

Click to give sites have been around the Internet for several years, but now there are sites that are making the process easier, more accessible and more time efficient for clickers. The next time you have a Sunday afternoon with some time to kill, visit one of these sites and click all that you can. You'll feel good about your time online and you'll be helping others continue to do good things for the world and the people who live there.

Thoughtful Giving

In this time of Holiday giving, most people give to charities. Food banks, homeless shelters, and those who cater to the working poor and foster children all are in desperate need of your help, not just now but year round. Before you give a donation of food, clothes or toys please consider some items we all use that these groups can desperately use. Any donation is much appreciated and I would like you to donate what you can, but I thought you might be able to use some hints.

Food

When giving food consider what you may be able to use in a meal. Cookies, cake mixes and frosting are nice, but when it is all you have in the cupboard would you prefer to give your child peanut butter or even a tuna sandwich? There are lots of low cost food that are nutritious that you will feel good about giving. Tuna, peanut butter, canned meats, vegetables, fruits, cereal, packaged dinners where everything is in the box, and a host of other items would make a much more practical donation than candy, cookies, and treats.

Toilet Paper

When people have trouble feeding their families they also have trouble buying toilet paper. Think about it. You have kids in your house and have to choose between toilet paper and milk. What a choice to have to make! Most stores sell a four pack for a dollar or under, so consider this when looking to donate.

Cleaning Products

Laundry soap, dish soap, baby wipes, and other such staples in a house are difficult to buy when you are trying to make sure the kids are eating. You buy the bread and milk, but now you do not have enough to buy soap to wash clothes or dishes. Most of these items are carried in dollar store or regular grocery stores for under a dollar. Nothing has to be fancy or spendy. It is just another thing to think of when making donations.

Clothes

Before you throw out a pair of kid's jeans with a hole in the knee think. A quick patch will give them new life, and if you hate wearing patches donate them. There are many kids, especially teens, in foster programs, and other low-income kids who could really use them. If you do not want to patch these used pants donate them anyway. Most times these organizations will patch them and get them where they can do the most good.

Medical Equipment

Got a pair of crutches, walker, shower stool or other items you no longer need? Donate them to a senior organizations. They can find someone who does need them, and pass it on. These are not one-time use items.

Glasses & Hearing Aids

Lions Club is famous for providing glasses and hearing aids to people who would otherwise not be able to afford them. If you are getting new ones, please, consider donating your old ones. It will make a world of difference.

These are just some suggestions and things to think about. No one likes to think of people going hungry or having to struggle with choosing toilet paper or milk, but it happens. Your gift of food, clothes and other items do make an enormous difference. I hope this list helps, and you will find yourself in a position to give.

Stopping World Poverty

One of the biggest issues facing the people of the world today is poverty. For us living in the United States, it may not seem that way. But in some places in Africa, Southeast Asia, and other parts of the world, more people are below the poverty line than above it.

One third of deaths every year are poverty-related, 50,000 of those deaths every day. Many of those that die are children, who have no protection from disease or starvation. Illnesses like measles or pneumonia, which aren't a big deal here, cause many deaths and lead to even worse diseases like tuberculosis and malaria. Many people cannot eat enough to survive, let alone feed their families and children. Societies living in poverties are at a huge risk of contracting and passing on HIV and AIDS.

What can we do to help? There are many things that can be done by regular citizens to help reduce and remove poverty in the world. The most direct way is to donate money to the cause. But it's not the only way, nor is it the best way. A good way to start reducing poverty in the world is to eliminate the poverty that exists in our own country. Our school has already done a great job at collecting different kinds of donations for the homeless in our area. The same kind of thing can be done privately by families to help those in need in America.

More indirect, but potentially more powerful methods of fighting poverty exist. There are various petitions, online and on paper, which ask governments to support the fight against global poverty. There are currently bills pending in Congress that would enable the United States to play a bigger role in eliminating poverty. 22 countries, including the United States, as well as the UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, and Italy, have taken a pledge that would see each country donate 0.7% of their yearly income to prevent poverty. Sweden, Luxembourg, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands have already reached the goal of donating 0.7% or more. Other countries are scheduled to reach the goal within the next 2 to 7 years. And yet the United States and 5 other countries don't even have a plan to reach the goal.

One of the easiest ways to help the cause is to send a letter. It can be downloaded online, printed out, and sent to the President of the United States. The letter describes the plan, the countries that have reached out planned to reach their goal, and then asks Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United States to fulfill the agreement that the countries signed at the 2002 Monterrey Conference and the 2002 Johannesburg Summit. It is a simple tasks to send the letter, one which may help the United States in the fight to eliminate poverty.

Free Rice
is a non profit website that is paid for by advertising space. It is also from the same source that the money used to buy the donated rice is paid for.

The basis behind the website is simple. You play a word game and for every correct answer given 20 grains of rice is given away to help end hunger. As the website grows bigger more rice will be donated at a time. For example Freerice.com started only giving out 10 grains of rice per correctly answered question, but has now grown large enough to give out 20 grains of rice per correct answer and hopefully will grow large enough to give out more.

The rice given out by the website is distributed by the United Nations World Food Program. To learn more and participate in ending world hunger go to the website and start playing.
