Is Bi a Lie?

Bisexuality and my feelings and comments towards the subject.

I recently discovered a song titled “I Kissed a Girl” by Katy Perry. The song is apparently about a personal experience that Katy encounters, in which she kisses a girl. The trend of “bisexuality” is becoming more and more common. You can't turn on the television without seeing the same sex kissing. One of MTV's top rated shows is about a bisexual star trying to find love. I'm sure all you guys have seen “A Shot of Love with Tila Tequila”. I personally love the open-mindedness of the show and the world, for allowing it on the air, without too much controversy. But many people that I know seem to think that this idea of “bisexuality” is false. I disagree.

I have realized that a lot people hate the idea of someone being “bisexual”. Some people believe that people, men and women, should have to pick a side; to be with a male or to be with a female. I personally disagree that the should have to be world so narrow and cut-throat, just make a decision of being with one type of person-to me that's just like saying that you have to be with a certain type of race, and that race is the only acceptable race. I think that this type of ultimatum is just another type of gay bashing. People have a right to decide who they want to date, whether they want to be with a male, female, or both, it should be accepted.

Another thing that I've seen is people disbelieving bisexuality, and saying that it is just a hop, skip, and jump, from just coming out and say “I'm gay” or “I'm a lesbian.” They say that those people, the bisexual ones, are holding on to their heterosexuality just to have more acceptance in society than the gays and lesbians. This is another thing that I, not disagree with, but I utterly speak out against. Why does the LGBT have to be over so much scrutiny that they cannot even make decisions without people disagreeing with them and acting as if they don't exist? Those conservative know-it-all, religious people, view bisexuality, and homosexuality for the matter, as being, not only a sin, but an illusion. That's the problem with some religions; there's absolutely no room for change. Without change, we as an existing species, cannot evolve. And without evolution, we're just as good as those cavemen that the Geico commercials keep talking about.

So, the word to wise: Be you and never let anyone tell you who you are! If you're gay, then be gay. If you're straight, then be straight. And if you like both sexes, be it. Love who you are, and who you love. Love what you do, and remember, not to do anything that you should be ashamed of. Also, I'd love a comment telling me how you feel about what I've said and you're thoughts!

Maybe Katy Perry's and Tila Tequila's bisexuality isn't "real", but that doesn't mean that it doesn't exist for us non celebrities. It just means that the entertainment industry is fake, what else is new?

I agree, be who you are. I just wished that society was more accepting.

I like your theory on bisexuality. Its to the point that straight people get on my last nerve cause they don't know nothing about our life style, or they don't want to understand it. Being bi, gay, lesbian, or whatever it may be, it does not change who we are. We just have difference in who we like. Now can you plz tell me who you are, I would like to communicate with you more on a personal level.

i agree wit u 100%. society ackin like they cant accept nothin that goes on..also another thing i dont understand is why is it a sin if you not straight...god must have had a little sugar in his bones to make us the way we are..(god forgive me) but if he gon make it a sin why would he do that...we cant control who we fall for whether its inside or outside your race...same or opposite sex...god made everyone the way he wanted us then gon punish who he wants...WTF

1st of all i aint a bi ophobe..but the near suggestion of bi sexulalty bettering the human race in evolution just doest make sense. anyway..my sisters bi sexaul so she says, i personally belive its a attenshion thing. with her anyway. i belive a hell of a lot of ppl who say " am bi" are lying to them selfs as they think it is " cool ". i do belive it exsists if ppl can b straight and ppl can be Gay then there must b ppl who see both ways.

I think that everyone is able to love a person of his own gender.. the problem is our society, people think it's wrong or bad..

Boy, Savanna....you have got it all figured out, huh? Sound\'s like Jesus judgement to me.......if that\'s not ignorant and hateful, don\'t know what is. Society IS the problem and how we raise our children IS the problem. Placing RESTRICTIONS on sexual preference is discriminatory and WRONG. It\'s dangerous , like RACISM, it\'s dangerous like RELIGION.......Putting society into your little box is the very foundation, the brewing pit of ignorance....which leads to judgement and societal persecution. Get over it....and if you are going to throw a stone at least make it more debative and INTERESTING than.....U ppl are crazy! maybe it\'s the way u r raised\' No, it\'s the way YOU were raised. Smarten up, literally. P.S. I am a heterosexual married woman w/ 3 children....and a ATHEIST. Live and let live.....

I agree with George.
I think that most people, if they tried, could have a same-sex relationship. But society and the media just shoot the ideas down and make them seem wrong.
Love is love, no way around it. I am bisexual and I love my girlfriend more then I've ever loved any boy but we have to hide our relationship from most people in fear.
