"The Largest Peninsula in the world"??? What difference does that make? And the railroad only exists because the Brits built it.

The key items you mention are the murder rate and the tremendous problem India has with poverty. Be proud of your country, but stop trying to brag about all the things done in ages past. What have YOU done for your country lately?
#5 by Ebey, Jan 1, 2008
hey Todd, who did the British use to make those rails? INDIANS!!

Who fought your dirty wars for Europe in WWI and WWII in Africa, middle east and into the boot of Italy? INDIANS!!

The least British could do is make railroads, after they exploited India. Did you ever wonder why India was called the "Jewel in the British Crown"?

And What i did for my country? Let me ask you, what did YOU DO for India or your country? But let me also answer your question, i am educating poor bums like you about India. That is what i am doing for my country, letting people know. Knowledge is Power, that is why your boss is firing you and hiring Indians to do the same work...

Ever wonder why silicon valley lost 70,000 of its brightest minds? They went to India.

There are alot more i have NOT named in this. if you want, i can continue...

No one can compare India with any other country. Look at the diversity be it religion, language, food, climate, dressing and what not. No country in the world has so much diversity. We are the larest producers of fruits and various varieties of pulses. The Indian soil is so good that it grows anything and everything even if it is foreign (onion, coffee and wheat etc. came from other countries). No country can feed such a huge population with so little cultivable area and outdated agricultural methods.

Yes we do have problems such illiteracy, disease etc. but where it is not there. Even in the USA, there are poor and illiterate people. One has to go through the New York City in the night when one will realize the problems that country is facing.

For a young country, India has done well and I am very proud about it.

Yea but India has a growing Naxalite problem that the government needs to address. But the government should not use force but solve that problem through negotiations and rural development projects.

Largest rate of murders per 1000 persons in the world - is utter rubbish. Perhaps, India ranks high in absolute numbers but definitely not in the number of murders per 1000. I have traveled widely in many countries of the east and west. I am very convinced that India is probably among the safest places on earth except for some specific regions within the country.

# The four religions born in India, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism, are followed by 25% of the world\\\'s population.

# The place value system, the decimal system was developed in India in 100 BC.
