Can Only White People Be Racist?

Are there double standards for racism in the USA?

You call me: "Redneck", "Hillbilly", "Slaker", "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey", "Gringo", "Sage" and you think it's OK.

But when I call you: "Jungle Bunny", "Spear Chunker", "Coon", "Wet Back", "jiggaboo", "Porch Monkey", "Sand Nigger", "Rag Head", "Towelhead", "Camel Jockey", "Gook", "Spook", "Nigger", "Kike", "Slant Eyes" or "Chink", you call me a racist.

  • You have the United Negro College Fund.
  • You have Martin Luther King Day.
  • You have Black History Month.
  • You have Cesar Chavez Day.
  • You have Yom Hashoah
  • You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi
  • You have the NAACP.
  • You have BET.

But:

  • If we had WET, (white entertainment television), we'd be racist.
  • If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racist.
  • If we had white history month, we'd be racist.
  • If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives, we'd be racist.
  • If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships, you know we'd be racist.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racist.

Did you know that some high school students decided to make a club for only the white students because the other ethnicities had them. They all got sent to court for being racist but the African-American, Latino, and Asia clubs were not even questioned.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

I am white and I am proud, but you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists?

very interesting article. I think there is a double standard, and thank you for calling attention to it, maybe people will wake up.people are people, race is only a factor because people have made it one, I think racism is wrong no matter whether it's the blacks, whites, asians, latinos arabs or other race doing it. racism=hate no matter how its cut, but at the same time I don't believe being proud of someones race is grounds to be called a racist either, the racism comes about when people start putting down the other races or calling them inferior. Thanks again for the article

i thinks its not fare that white people should be called racit when were not when other racies do the samething.
#3 by gwangi, Aug 23, 2007
i don't think its so much that 'only whites can be racist'. surely, you understand that by being the overwhelming majority in most parts of the US, 'white day' is basically every day. white history month? well, your average high school US history class teaches mostly the history of white settlers in this continent. and what about washington's birthday (president's day), and columbus day?

i think much of your complaints are misguided because you don't realize that whites, being the statistical majority here, already have all of these things. only by seeing white as the default and not making white an ethnic category too can you fail to see this.

of course, everyone can be racist, and people of all colours are. i really don't think anyone is doubting that, and i think you'd be hard pressed to find many people that seriously entertain such notions.
#4 by gwangi, Aug 23, 2007
also, whites did march for their rights: it was called the american revolution, and we celebrate it all the time, as we rightfully should. i don't understand all this paranoia about oh my god there's MLK day, and we don't have a white day. you do! they've just been celebrated way longer so people are more used to it and it doesn't stick out as much!

I think I'm just tired of race.... I married a man who happens to be part asian, just part. For years, I've had to hear comments from his family about how whites don't have any sense of community, don't have strong family bonds... I grew up not particularly seeing color and certainly not using it as a litmus test to choose who I spent my time with. There's just so much more to a person than the color of their skin. My husband tells me that it's very difficult to have people make decisions about you before you've opened your mouth. Recently, his sister called my husband and I racist after a discussion about illegal immigration. My husband and I feel that we need to protect our borders, especially after 9/11 and that's it's wrong to have people who need work, have to come across the border in dangerous situations, live in fear of being caught, have not medical insurance and basically have to "be a criminal". If we need guest workers there should be a program in place to allow workers to come in legally, be screened, paid fairly, etc. Now we're racist and she and her husband aren't speaking to us. I used to think it was so cool that my children had such a rich, diverse cultural heritage - now I just feel punished for the color of my skin.

Calling all white people racist is like saying all asians speak Chinese. It's just not true, That is Stereotyping. And stereotyping is pretty much the core of racism.
#10 by Ola, Apr 29, 2008
People. race is not even an actual tangible "thing". the only reason why there is 'racism' is because people cant see that humans are just that, humans. we reproduce to keep the human population alive. and then we die. that is our only real purpose in life. think about it.

I'm white. European whites are often racist. I'm ashamed to hear some racists talk.
#12 by YT, May 10, 2008
Usually racists are dumb and dumb people are often are racists... No, all races people can be racist, but whites usually think they are the superior race, the least animal-looking folks.

I read the article I am not sure what you want. It sounds like a rich person demanding to shop in a cheap store. The door is always open. Yet is the door open in reverse? No you need money lots of it. Are you willing to erect a special Holiday that honors the White race? Have you contacted others who feel the same way? Is there a true need for further acknowledgement of White people in the world? Do you feel that you have suffered injustices? Has another person of the White race stood out in such a way to you that they too need a Holiday? If so you should work solely on that goal. However when you mentioned that certain groups of people can call you out of your name and it's okay? You know in your heart this is not true. The people who do that in any compacity are wrong, wrong, wrong. There are rules in place about that sort of thing should you be truly offended by it. The trouble is some White people really do want to fit in with the other groups of people. Some truly don't mind some of the language that comes with that. Some will move to those communities and some make a difference there. So it just depends on where your heart is. Do you really want a new special acknowledgement? Are you just mad at the other groups of people who seem to be seperating themselves? Are you just really mad at some people who have displayed plain bad manners toward you?

This is true and it is sad, whites are called racist but in this day in age the blacks are worse. When you call them out on it they bring up slavery and the segregation of the past, This is the present and the future, it's not an excuse for other races to do the same. If its considered racist for whites to do it, it's racist for others also.

I think that if there was a college fund that only gave white people scholarships, white pride month, etc. it would be considered racist because whites are the majority in America.

It\'s sort of like the funds that are giving black people scholarships aren\'t seen as racist because maybe overall less black people go to college, in general they are poorer, blacks are minority, the funds and all those programs are kind of helping them emerge into society.

#16 by Anonymous, Jun 23, 2008
No, there isn't double standards. White people will flinch when they hear the words like honky, because it wasn't used for decades as a word to describe human beings as animals. Do you know why there is a BET??? Because there once was a time when black people weren't allowed to be on television! Do you know why black people have the United Negro Fund?? Because there was a time when black people were never given the equal opportunity like white people to go to school! Do you know why there are so many poor black people in the U.S.? It's because white people never let them have the opportunity to grow. In school all we learn is about the achievements of white people and focus on a few during black history month. Would it kill you white people to learn that black people are smart too? Everything in the U.S. is based on white privilege and it kills me inside to hear white people still complain like their ancestors did about black people. Will it ever stop?????

if u look u r prison systems and populations of inmates u will realised who is racist?
#18 by Go Whiteboy, Jul 9, 2008
We need to have white college to send our poor white children to college lets call the NAACP and tell tem to stop discriminating against whites. Another thing is why are whites white and blacks African Americans. Should we refer to whites as Euro-Americans. I thought an American was just that an American. Funny thing if you are African American here, would you be an American Afro in Africa.

LOL

who gave the white people the name EUROP and why,who name the black people African, is there a place call African, who name the black people negro, colored, what was the black people name befour coming the USA and who made the white people white, the black people black.

YT, How can you say european whites are often racists?!! Thats kind of being racist. Have you got any proof to back this up..?
#22 by 13, Jul 24, 2008
Also, 'Go whiteboy'; 'whites' ARE refered to as European Americans.
#23 by DyD, Jul 28, 2008
I see blacks often, not allways, but often being openly offensive and racist. Like its OK for them or something. I got news for you. I bet a milliom dollars there is'nt a black person alive today that has been a slave or a white person today that has owned a slave. I am not personally responsible for rascism as I am not a rascist. I am not going to take it either though. If you want peace, you need to treat everyone like a valued human being. Get over yourself.
#24 by Anonymous, Jul 30, 2008
I agree with you. The blacks have been racist. To repay the white people back, white people will be slaves for 200+ years and then they will get their one channel. Good trade off don't you think?
#25 by Anonymous, Jul 31, 2008
Why do African Americans not blame the true source of the slave trade? Thier fellow BLACKS in Africa who captured, sold, and really ran the slave trade. If they were not doing that there probably wouldn\'t have been nearly that large a slave trade. Also you forget that now they are all in this wonderful country. You could have been raised in Africa instead. Do you think you would be happier? Ever read about life in Africa? If you are not happy go back to Africa.

Either you are an American or not! That goes for ANYONE not happy with the USA. Especially those who migrated here. If you don\'t like it your free to leave at anytime you want!

Secondly - Over 100,000 WHITE Americans died in the Civil war to END slavery. Where do you see African Americans honoring those people and the ultimate sacrafice they made? It nearly tore this country apart and no one remembers how many of them died to end primarily slavery!

Just complain about things that happened 100\'s of years ago and keep looking for entitlement. No ONE is entitled to anything in this country other than the right to PURSUE happiness. Not have everything handed to you or provided by the Government. I don\'t care what color your skin is. That is true for EVERYONE!

I personally love Bill Crosby\'s stance on this issue. Don\'t keep looking to blame others for your situation, but spend your time working to better yourself!

The fact is Racism against ANYONE is wrong and should not be supported. What the initial thread listed is correct. It is ok for everyone to form a program based on race/skin color except Caucasions. Simply put that is being racist by the fact I CAN NOT enter or use those programs based on my skin color! Period!
THAT IS WRONG! If an African American was not allowed into program because of skin color it racist, but a caucasion it is not? Guess there are no poor or homeless white people also.

The people I truly feel sorry for are the those in our military who come home from protecting this country and end up on the streets. They made a huge sacrafice for all of us and we turn our backs on them. Once again that has nothing to do with skin color, but honoring those who protect our way of life and country.

I do not support racism in any form. Until it ends on ALL levels sadly it will not go away.

@4

The American Revolution was fought for the rights of all men and women. Not just whites. Independence day is not to celebrate white freedom, but freedom of all mankind living in America, whether they are white, black, or any shades in between.

@25

Completely agree. Couldn't have said it better myself.

hell ya thats what ive been sayin all along...black ppl hav the black woman expos n stuff but if we had a white woman expo ort a white tv channel or month we'd be racist thx 4 pointing that out
#28 by Anonymous too, Aug 3, 2008
I hate to be anonymous too but... There is definitely a problem here. We are afraid to speak out and let anyone know our name because it could come back to bite us. It is ashame that freedom of speech is for everyone except the white people. Not everyone who is white was a slave owner but that is what is implied. Im tired of racism on all accounts. To me people are people. But there is alot of reverse discrimination in the work place now and can I speak out? If I did what would happen. I can no more change the past of the black people than I can change the fact that I was born white.

Blacks - not African-Americans - just plain blacks; they cry racism for everything. The blacks get away with this \"race card\" and they use it to their full advantage. White America needs to wake up to this reality. Stop harvesting this \"white guilt.\" White people do not owe blacks anything. If the blacks do not like it - they should segregate themselves and move to Africa or any other Carribean Island. Unfortunately, it is a portion of the \"white race\" that feels sorry for the \"blacks\" and they support and pamper them. These whites do not know the what the \"blacks\" are truly about. Most black hate white people and they would love try and take over our predominately white society. It is time for the white people of America to awake from their comatose state and pull together as one. This comment has nothing to do with any type of \"white supremacy\" extremist group. This comment is comming from someone who is proud of being white and who sees the injustices being catapulted onto the white race.

Remember, it was the white people who made this nation great. We the whites formed America into this wonderful world power. Look at most of the world powers - they are run by the whites!!

I Mean Honestly As A black Man In This White America! Its hard Why Because White People Are Doing Something Too Make It Hard On Us Blacks! And Now Im Not Saying That All White People Are Racist But Most i Mean Come On! Like How Can You tell Who Is Racist Until You Talk And Get Too Know Them Right! And Its Not Based Off Of Skin Color Because Anybody Can Hate! Its Just The Principal! Of The Whole Thing Like When People See Ah White Person Male or Female Or someone Who Looks Close Too White! They Just Get Labeled As Being Racist and i Know Thats Wrong But Thats Just The Way It Is Though! Because Of The Past! But Yea All Jokes This Racsim Needs Too Stop In America Though If Its The KKK Or Tha Cops Or The Media Or People Or Whatever! It Just Needs Too Stop Because Its Just Evil And Wrong! And If There Is Freedom For Everyone Thats How It Should Be No Matter What Race Or Color!Treat A Person How You Would like Too Be Treating Or You Will Get It Back Im Telling You! Its In The Bible You Rep What You Soul Its True! Trust Me!So The White Man Or Who Ever Is Doing What Should Stop Because I Can Say That Mostly White People Are The Main Ones That Is Keeping Racsim Alive In America! Sorry But Its True Though! And Yes Not Every White Person Is Racist But You Know Who You Are Though! So Please White People Stop Being Racist Thats Not Cool! Because There Turning Every And Most Races Against Ya!And Too Have Hate And Bring Racsim Too Ya Though Ya Know! Because Ya Doing It So Stop Blaming It On Other Races Because Ya Created This Whole Mess Because It Started Back In Slavery Though Ya Know!So Just Like i Said White People just Stop The Lies Stop The Hate And The Evilness. And Then Maybe Just Maybe This America! Will Start Too Get Better! But Yea Anyways Though I Hope Yall White people Realize That Your GrandParents Did And Started All This! And i Hope one Day This America Will Wake Up And Stop The Hate Towards Each Other Though And Wake Up And Realize That Every One Is The Same person Inside! Once You Talk And Get Too Know Them You Will Find Out How Cool That Person Is! Before This Evil Crazy World Comes Too An End Though No Jokes! Lol Because Its Gonna Happen Read The Bible! And Youll Know The Truth And See And Seek The Light! But Yea Anyway Though Thats The Truth Though! And hopefully This World Will Stop All The Hate And Evil And Come Toghther!Of How God Created This World And Us Too Be!And Never Forget That Evil Is From The Devil Though! All Jokes Though! But Yea AnyWay Though Take Care World Stay Safe And Always Keep God Close Too You And In Ya Heart Though O! \"2008\"

The oppressor cannot accuse the one he is oppressing of racism. The resentment and prejudice that minorities feel towards whites is a reaction to white racism. Therefore, someone who is not white cannot be racist.

Furthermore, whites are privileged. The technical term for it is "white privilege". Scholarships, grants and certain government jobs are set aside for minorities to even the playing field. It doesn't make sense to offer these things to a race that already has control over them.

White people need to stop crying about minorities finally getting their do. The tables have only been turned for 40 years. White exploitation of the Americas began in 1492 with Columbus. So the scales have to be tipped the other way for about 500 years until whiny whites get my sympathy.

Or at least until 2042, when according to the census bureau, whites will be a minority. Speaking of which, I need to go have sex with my wife to produce yet another child, it will be my 7th, maybe whites will become a minority even sooner. LOL

I am SO on board with this site\'s ideals.I,for one am
Totally Sick & Tired of the Double Standard of this nation
when it comes to race. For instance, like the name calling
originally mentioned here,it is JUST as Racist to call me a
honky,whitebread(Got that one from the movie,\"Dangerous Minds\")
and cracker as it is for me to call a black person the \'N\' word,
as well as word like,\'Coon\' or even \'Spear Chucker\'.Unfortunately,many black people(Mainly Liberal),
especially this generation\'s young gangsta punks don\'t see it
that way.As far as they\'re concerned,we deserve every bad
thing they can say about us or do to us because of the Tragic
History of slavery and racist segregation we experienced.
Today, apart from the slavery tragedy, much of black America are
no different.
I used to have such a high, pedestal regard for black America,
what with all the Great contributions they gave us and their
History of courage.Besides,I Really Love black women. And
some of America\'s Greatest Heroes have been and are black.BUT-
in today\'s society,that pedestal has been destroyed,though,I\'m
always going to have some Positive Regards for black people.
Like us,not all are bad.It\'s only that alot of them live by
that lousy double standard which is as bad as segregation.

hell racism is not about color or hating someone racism is about power the power and control anybody or any race can be prejudice or be a bigot or discrimante to be prejudice is to pre judge someoine before knowing the results or to discrimanate is is dislike someone because of thier age/sex/etc. to be a bigot is to claim that your race is the best and superior ti all discrimanate is an action and prejudice is a thought but to be a racist you must have the power to make change can we as black peop;e in this country have the power to segregate the masses of people as the white race did in the 50/60 that was not a prejucdice act or a discrimmitory act it was a racist act because they had the popwer to do so dont get me wrong black people can be racist but not in america there are some countries cwhere blacks have power and are racist towards other group or thier themsleves to be honest race is only an illusion if a persdon color defines them as a race what racec of peopler are those people with all different suntanning on the beach if you saw them walking down the street the white man true color is where the sub=n done shineright under thier panty or bra line that shade of color is thier true color actually there are only 2 type of people straight hair people and curly hair people and if you want to find the orignasl man or the black man if you put several different people with straight hair people in a room and one curly hair and you put your hand in a hole and you had to identfy each person you would only be able to identfy the blackman because of his curly hair its like dna its has ans curly like our hair s curl sand since dna is the orign of life and it has a s curl like the blackman hair we arwe the origanal man of this earth peace for more info on this subject and more email me at ccc2boyz@yahoo.com

I WOULD SAY THAT BOTH SIDES CAN BE HATEFUL AND UNTIL BOTH SIDES WORK ON REPAIRING RACE RELATIONS, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SEPARATION. UNTIL SEPARATIST UNDERTAKINGS LIKE STREET CULTURE, GANGSTER RAP (ALL WHICH BREED HATE) ARE REPLACED AS THE NORM IN MAINSTREAM BLACK SOCIETY WITH THOSE THAT TEACH MORALS AND DIGNITY THEN RACE RELATIONS WILL NOT IMPROVE. AS MLK SAID, WE MUST WORK SIDE BY SIDE WITH OUR WHITE FRIENDS TO IMPROVE RACE RELATIONS. I AM SICK OF THE ENTITLEMENT ATTITUDE THAT MANY HARBOR AS WELL AS THE FAILURE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY OF YOUR ACTIONS. IF INTELLIGENT WHITE PEOPLE AND BLACK PEOPLE COME TOGETHER AND REFUSE TO SPEW HATRED WE CAN SILENCE THE HATE. ONE RACE!!!
#38 by NV, Sep 21, 2008
Black people in the USA have an excuse for everything. Their complaints are always about money and possessions, and how someone else has something they don't have. It's called work. You think there aren't poor white people? Black people act like they are the only race that has suffered. EVERY race has suffered at one point in history. Quit being lazy and get an education like the rest of us. No wonder white people cant stand black people. You don't hear the Jews complaining like blacks do. Black people don't have a right to complain.
#39 by jeff, Sep 27, 2008
First of, I am Mexican-American. I totally agree with your comments. You should be proud to be who you are. If you are white, be proud. I don't see anything racist with that. I don't think racism is limited to "white" people. Anyone can be guilty of racism. We should all be proud of where we came from (even if you are white). NV, you are correct on every level.
My only suggestion would be to be proud of be of "French", "British", "German" or whatever decent as opposed to being proud to be "White". But that's just my opinion. If you want to proud to white, then by all means, be proud. I'll back you up on your pride regardless of the fact that I'm Mexican-American. YOU ARE NOT RACIST for being proud of what you are. Great article! : - )
#40 by slop, Sep 27, 2008
the fact of the matter is that a higher percentage of black people hate white people than vice-versa. what does slavery have anything to do with people born in the last one hundred years. nobody alive today had anything to do with that.
#41 by NR, Oct 9, 2008
Racism in itself is a waste of time. I honestly believe everyone has said or has been racist at one time or another in thier life. Regardless of the color of your skin your the same as every other human being, no more, no less, and to think so is an act of pure iggnorance. We all are concieved, born, age, die, and decompose all the same. I may be white but why should that be all you see. Why should the mistakes and faults of my ancestors be rested upon my shoulder, Why should the suffering of your ancestors entitle you to reperasions for something you did not experience. Do you realize that your ancestors fought along side to end this, or are have you been blinded by iggnorance.White people werent the sole cause for slavery in the making of this nation, People of your race bartered sold and traded you off to the europeans to gain profit. There has been people of every race every color, backround, and financial status that have made history changing advancements, movements, and achievements of greatness. Whites helped blacks reach freedom from slavery,Your race does not dictate who you are or what you are entitles, This nation was founded on the fact that regardless opf who you are your religion or your opinions you have the equal ability to advance yourself with determinasion and hardwork without descrimination upon status to bar your advancement, No one in the country was or is or ever shall be entitled to anything the even thought that someone is, is against the very reason we faught to be free\'d from the british crown,You complain and bitch about others commiting racist acts, yet your no better than they your just as ignorant and blind as the ones commiting the act.The past cannot be changed the problems are nearly corrected yet no one lets go, You hold on to it and use it as an excuse to make your life easier, This does not just apply to blacks but those of every race. Whites complain they lose there jobs to other races , but if you were doing your job right and being productive enough in the first place you wouldnt have lost the job, you cant complain and use this excuse because it has always been this way race is just an excuse, you were simply replaced by someone who did your job better and cheaper. Now in some cases this may be true in the fact that other races to use the race card to sue companies when they are turned down to someone who is white, companies have had to become careful of this hiring people that dont do there job and lower the profit of the company because they cant afford to eb sued for racism in fear of losing even more buisness and profit, Can you say this is just either. Is it right that kids in schools are allowed to make advancement groups for a single race but if your white its not. I personally have seen this and to my dissapointment the complain of false racism won. The kids were sued , had to pay for the emotional damage they caused, and were expelled from the district, with there families labeled as racist for simply trying to make things equal to give all races equal chance to advance there races culture.Whites are very quickly becoming the minority in america yet people are still saying the opposite. I personally dont remember hearing of any circumstance of this generation or the last owning or being a victim to slavery in tis country. Our freedoms have began to be deminished and restricted in terms of free speech because of claims of racism.Being proud of your race does not mean you support everything theyve done i can be proud to be white but that doesnt mean that i am racist or that i support the views of my ancestors im simply proud to be who i am just as you of all races are about your culture and race does this make me racist? you say in history all we learn about is white history but the fact is your wrong more movies come out about blacks overcoming descrimination. Im taught more about black history and black rights slavery thier suffering etc. more often than white just because your learning about something benjamin franklin or john adams did isnt white history its simply United States history. whites have become so soft and feel they owe so much apology that we are supposed to be ashamed for being white. If you make no effort to change racism how can you complain about it your nothing more than adding fuel to the fire. Weve given you reperations, black history month,a holiday, events were whites are not allowed to participate what else do you want you bitch but you never have an answer for this question. You want racism to stop yet you make no effort to changing it. you bitch and moan about america yet you make no attempt to leave, You say calling you black is discriminatory and asked to be called African Americans yet when your called that you think im being racist. Iggnorance may be bliss to ones self but can cause great suffering to others. My ancestors may have been ignorant your though were not yet its as if your race has inherited my ancestors ignorance. I am not ashamed to be white nor should you to be black, hispanic, asian, inian, native american, or whatever but i should have the same right to be as you without being prosecuted for it. People have forgotten the meaning of an opinion everyone has one and no one can judge rather any one persons opinion is right or wrong it cant hurt or anyone unless they let it effect them but if you let your life br run upon someone elses opinion you may as well not exsist if you have no voice on something how can you speak up to be heard
#42 by Blind, Nov 1, 2008
I lost my vision when I was 5 years old. I remember what lakes and streams and large parks with big trees look like. Now, I can hear the streams and wind through the leaves but can't see them. My best friend and I love to go for walks together. It has never occured to me to ask her what color her skin is, perhaps I will. I speak to people and make determinations based upon their character, I have no other way to make a decision about what kind of person I believe they are. Perhaps things would be different if we were all born with only 4 senses, and sight wasn't one of them. I'm blind, but perhaps it is I who is the lucky one, because in my world, racism doesn't exist because it simply cannot. I guess what you see depends mainly on what you look for, and I can only see with my intuition and interpretation of the persons character they present to me. I have no idea what color the people are that I interact with everyday. Perhaps I should ask those people that I enjoy the company of what color their skin is? Should I question the people as to what color their skin is that upset me? Or, should I beg that anyone that reads my words learn to speak to people as if they are in a dark room and can't see the person they speak with, but communicate with the soul of the person, you have that choice but I do not. Watch your thoughts, they lead to your words...watch your words, they lead to your actions...watch your actions they lead to your habits...watch your habits they lead to your character...watch your character as it becomes your destiny. Good luck to anyone that attempts to make a determination as to who someone is based on their color, it can not be done.

I'm 19 years old and have been institutionalized since my parents died in an accident 4 years ago. Should I apply to the United Negro College Fund and find out if I qualify? Should I join a latino dating service? What do I say if I'm accepted to both? What do I say if I'm rejected at both? Do I ask they if I was rejected because of the color of my skin? If so, perhaps I will ask them what color my skin is and why I don't qualify, because in my world color doesn't exist because IT CAN'T!

what about the fact that most people in America these days are wonderful combinations of different races? It is ignorant, especially these days to judge people because of the color of thier skin. I am the stereotypical caucasian girl- blonde hair blue eyes. You would never know my grandmother came from a line of native americans, which is anther race that was persecuted. It is horrible what happened to not only African-Americans, but other races that did not "fit". But a lot of us have overcome these issues. That is the beauty of the United States in current times. Most of us, especially the younger crowd are a mix of more than a few racial backgrounds. If more people can put that into perspective, may be we can overcome this filth that has been haunting the human race for so long. We are all God's children and in the end, it doesn't really matter.

Personally I am so tired of hearing about this subject. How long has it been since MLK? You would think that people would be able to get over this by now. There are no blacks around that have been slaves and no whites that have owned any, so why is it that blacks believe whites owe them something? I did nothing to the black community to make them look down on me. I do believe that blacks are more racist, only because what their ancestors went through but thats not how things are now and people need to change. We are all the same no matter what the color of you're skin or where your ancestors are from. We need to remember that we are all americans and if we are going to suceed as a country we need to come together and forget about something as petty as skin color.

i am part blackfoot indian from the montana hills
and its funny cause in class we have been discussing the fact of take\'n the confederate flag down and i took time out to think about this and the problem with it is how can u take the south heritage from them when if we take the confederate flag down wouldnt we have to take the american flag down tooo i mean if the confederate flag represents slavery doesnt the american flag represent murder and mayhem towards my ancestors??
all flags have skeletons hanging from it
mind u i am not from the south or the north i am from the west coast altho i dont think take\'n someones heritage from them is the answer
and we had a girl in class throw a fit and it really got me thinking about racism never really gave it much thought til that point and time
slavery was years ago no one living today suffered thru it we should forget our past but we should learn to move on from it and let it go
i noe i have let go of what happen to my ancestors altho i will never forget it i wont let it rule my life forever or hold anger or grudge
a grudge is the hardest thing we can carry
let it go learn to laugh at urself and be happy with who u are no matter what skin color ect
someone shows u ugly\'ness just smile at them and wave
move on there will always be ppl that are ugly in this world

i agree SO much with this post and with #25

i'm white and i live in south texas where whites are the minority and hispanics are the majority. yes there are still some white people here that are racist, but i have to say that the hispanics are much more racist, and most are perfectly ok with admitting that. most of the culture here is hispanic; we get out of school for the Fiesta parade, and many billboards and signs are in Spanish. but still even here, white people wouldn't be allowed to have a "white club" or anything like that, but isn't it the same situation where blacks and hispanics are allowed their clubs??

and no, for all the people who are saying white people are whining because we think we aren't getting enough rights... no, we are just stating a fact that racism cuts both ways. and in my opinion from what i've seen, nowadays white people can face more prejudice than other races.

Racism is not limited to any one single race. However, this stereotype about white people is more like a bad rap that stems from the history of the actions of many white people in America. Not to suggest that just because somebody is white that they are automatically guilty of something or share the same beliefs as those that are racist or have made life hard or impossible on people in the past. Dually noting that one's racism shouldn't be exempt from scrutiny based on fact that it is coming from a minority. I think many people of all colors/races can be a little racist at times, and some people do a really good job of not letting racism enter their hearts at all. It is one thing to feel what you feel, believe what you believe...but when your beliefs manifest into actions, it effects other people and that is (to me) the big distinction. It seems acceptable to say that no other race (which is stupid because we're all human, but it is what it is) has had such a profound impact(mostly negative) on other people based simply on the color of their skin. Times are changing, people in this country seem to be heading in a better direction. In my opinion, due to the nature in which this country was developed, it's going to be a long time before racism subsides to a level that is minute enough that we can trully say that racism doesn't exist in this country...because it does.

The word Racist is a new word.Look in dictionaries from 60 years ago,you won't find it.This is a word invented to intimidate white people,to make them feel guilty. If a white person starts a discussion about illegal aliens ,welfare, black crime the word racist is yelled out to end the discussion.
