Tornadoes of Destruction

Tornadoes and their destructive power.

Tornadoes are the most violent storms on the planet. Winds exceeding 300 miles per hour. An average of 1,000 tornadoes spin underneath thunderstorms each year and kill about 60 people in the United states. Tornadoes plow through trees, cars, trucks, mobile homes, motor homes, trailers, and practically anything in their path. Tornadoes can occur any time of the year but mostly in the spring. Tornadoes can be formed in the clouds of thunderstorms. Moisture in the air at lower to mid levels is perfect atmosphere for a tornado. Unstable air will continue rising from by the ground, as a lifting force. The sky is usually calm before a tornado, and sometimes a greenish tint. Make sure you get in a shelter quickly if this is the case. If you are caught in a tornado you better get in a ditch if there is no shelter near by. If you are in a trailer you should go to another persons basement. Your trailer home would not stand a chance against a tornado. The strongest tornadoes are often near the edge of the updraft, causing heavy bursts of rain and hail.

This is a weak tornado. Tornadoes are very destructive to buildings in their path. Most often leveling them that is in their path. If you are caught in a tornado, it is best to be on the lowest floor in the smallest room or cellar.

This tornado has more destructive power than most. This is most probably a F4 tornado.

The storm that created this tornadoes dropped grapefruit sized hail stones down to the ground. That can do alot of damage to crops, and can demolish buildings. Tornadoes are rated by a Fujita scale. Tornadoes that are F-0 to F-1 are weak, only lasting around ten minutes. F-2 to F-3 are stronger and last longer doing more damage. Then there is the F-4 and the F-5 tornadoes with winds exceeding 200 miles per hour. These tornadoes are the deadliest and do the most damage. Tornadoes do millions of dollars worth of damage each year. So Scientists are trying to find out how to predict them before they happen. This will save lives and thousands of dollars.

Very good to read, but would have liked to find out more about tornadoes come into being as there are updrafts and how the storms run their courses. Check part of your sentence:Unstable air will continue rising from by the ground. This would sound better as: Unstable will continue rising up from the ground, if this is what you want to say. From and by don\'t go together in a sentence. Mother nature is mysterious indeed:)
