Rain

Rain. Rain is a lot of everything we need all in one tiny quarter of a centimeter.

The oxygen we breathe is a part of rain. The water we drink is rain. Rain can sum up what gives life. It makes trees grow, plants flourish, and flowers spring. It makes majestic mountains out of plain, solid rock and brings up grass in the valleys forged out nothing.

Rain builds up oceans and forges lakes. It both makes and maintains the world around us. But even as I look outside even now, I see another side of rain. Where it can bring forth vegetation and quench the thirst of life, it can fall in the exact opposite direction. As it comes down in quantities and speeds everywhere, rain can be disastrous.

It floods and scrapes, bringing down buildings and destroying all else in its path. It ruins lives, stripping away homes and causing tragic accidents. With this said, I would like to look at life as I do at rain. Where life can be good and productive, it can also bring about disaster. So for you, reader, do not take it for granted when the rain is steady and alive. But at the same time, prepare yourself for the other side of the rain.

Its the reason why some of the most ancient philosophers believed that water was "god." It really is an amazing thing, that those who only see the outside fail to discover.
