Environmental Conservation, Protection, and Preservation

Environmental conservation should not be sacrificed for the sake of economic development.

The Earth is blessed with a vast wealth of natural resources. These provide us with products that help meet our needs for food, clothing, shelter, medicine, and chemical substances used to make important products. The manufacture of these products also gives gainful employment to people. Hence, the use of our natural resources helps improve standards of living.

However, natural resources cannot sustain our needs for long if we will use and abuse it for economic gains alone. Thus, the dwindling natural resources and diminishing environmental quality make people aware to conserve, protect, and preserve the environment. Conservation involves the wise use of natural resources (land, water, forests, minerals, fisheries, and wildlife). Environmental protection implies the adoption of techniques and ways to shield the environment from further destruction. Similarly, preservation means that the use of natural resources will not, in any way, further degrade of the environment.
