The Bull Shark

On the behavior pattern of the bull shark.

The bull sharks are found commonly in warm waters and shallow waters and they are usually found all around the world. They are best known for their aggressive behavior. They proved to be very dangerous to human beings as they dwell mostly in the deep waters of the sea and oceans. They attack the humans who go deep in the water. They can tolerate fresh water too, unlike many sharks. They can even travel in river waters.

Many studies were conducted and are being conducted on the behavior of the bull sharks. Some of the major things these studies have revealed about the behavior of the bull sharks are.

Behavior of the Bull shark

Bull sharks are known for their hunting habits. They go for hunting alone. Many whales and sharks go in groups for hunting but this is not the case in Blue sharks. They go alone for hunting. They often go through the shallow waters in a very slow pace and often stay there. When they see prey they suddenly burst out of the shallows very fast and aggressively attack the prey.

They are very possessive about their territories and attack any other animal and to that matter human beings who enter their territory. They are considered very dangerous to humans and they are one of the four species which are considered dangerous to humans, the others being the great white, tiger and oceanic whitetip sharks. Among the four species said, bull sharks are the most dangerous species for humans. The majority of fatal shark attacks recorded are done by the bull sharks and these attacks by the bull sharks instigated Hollywood to make movies like Jaws.

Majority of the attacks done by bull sharks are recorded in and around the Sydney Harbour inlets, though earlier the people used to think that great white whales are responsible for these attacks. In Indian rivers, these bull sharks are known to eat even the corpses of the people which float in the river.

In the Ganges river, people leave the corpses as they believe that the people get the divinit and go to heaven if the corpse is left in that river. The sharks present in that particular river eat these sharks too. Many of these attacks are done by a very rare species of bull sharks, the Ganges shark(Glyphis gangeticus). This species is one of the very rare species of sharks which can survive both in salt waters and fresh waters.

These are some noted behavior patterns of the bull sharks, which are considered the most dangerous species for humans.
