Canadian Shield

There are 4 major resources that aid in the economic development or the Shield. They are; the natural beauty, the minerals, the rivers, and the forests.

Proof that it is economically successful by minerals are that it is one of the worlds richest areas for mineral ores. Some of these minerals include : titanium, uranium, copper, iron, nickel, gold, zinc, silver, platinum and diamonds. All over the mountain there are many towns extracting the ores from the mountain, an example is Greater Sudbury. In some areas of the shield there has recently been some diamond discoveries. Proof that it is economically successful by forests is that the shield is covered by dense forests which is important to logging industries. Some trees found on it include: Maple, Birch, Aspen, Fir and Spruce. In the 19th century a lot of the trees were cut down and used for smelting the ores that were found. The soil is very thin on top of the rocks. There are many lakes/rivers on the shield which produce Hydro. The natural beauty of the shield attracts people to come and visit and look at it.

In conclusion, the 4 major resources that help in the economic development of the shield are the natural beauty, the minerals, the rivers, and the forests.
